About Blackboard
Blackboard is a user-friendly, password-protected, web-based course management system that can be used to enhance traditional face-2-face and hybrid courses, or to develop a course entirely online.
In addition to being an excellent tool for distributing course notes and posting grades, homework assignments and solutions, Blackboard enables faculty and students to communicate and collaborate through real-time chats, threaded discussions, class e-mail, and online file exchanges. The system allows instructors to utilize as many (or as few) of the features they feel will complement their course and be of benefit to their students.
Supported by the Cullen College of Engineering, Blackboard is also available for use by Engineering student organizations, departments and special programs.

- Syllabus, course handouts, homework assignments and solutions can be easily posted for students to view and print
- Electronic gradebook - students can check their grades online

- Course statistics to evaluate and measure student progress

- Login utilizes university user account information
- Automatic archiving of course components for use in subsequent semesters
Blackboard is offered to Engineering faculty as another option to the university supported course management system, WebCT Vista .
